Duties and Responsibilities of the County Judge
The County Judge is considered the chief executive officer of the county, presiding over the Commissioners Court and the County Court.
The County Judge presides over class A & B misdemeanor offenses, civil cases (up to a $5000 limit) and is the Probate and Juvenile Judge.
Other duties include ordering county elections, filing the proposed budget with the County Clerk and preparing the Commissioners Court Agenda.
Duties and Responsibilities of the County Commissioners
A major area of responsibility for the county commissioners is construction and maintenance of roads and bridges in the county that are not part of the state highway system.
The Commissioners Court has financial responsibility for the county. Major duties of the Court is to set the tax rate and adopt the County Budget; authorizing expenditures; fill elective and appointive vacancies; establish voting precincts and appoint precinct judges in county elections.
Duties and Responsibilities of the County Attorney
The County Attorney is the chief prosecuting officer for the County Court. The County Attorney prosecutes misdemeanor cases, motions to revoke cases and bond forfeitures, as well as collection of hot checks.
The County Attorney is also responsible for the prosecution of juvenile cases and representation for the State in Department of Human Resource cases.

The County Treasurer responsibilities include:
Receipt of funds, disbursement of funds, and accounting for funds in custody. The Treasurer receives and disburses cash bonds and is the chief investment officer.

The County Auditor is appointed by the District Judge. The Auditor serves as a check on the financial operations of other county offices, has certain financial accounting and recordkeeping responsibilities and assists the County Judge in preparation of the budget.
Duties and Responsibilities of the District Judge
The District Judge presides over the 220th Judicial District Court, which is comprised of Bosque, Hamilton and Comanche Counties.
The District Judge hears felony criminal cases, divorces, adoptions and civil (over $5,000).
Duties and Responsibilities of the District Attorney
The District Attorney is the chief prosecuting officer for the 220th Judicial District Court, which is comprised of Bosque, Hamilton and Comanche Counties.
The District Attorney prosecutes felony cases; motion to revoke cases and bond forfeitures.
Duties and Responsibilities of the District Clerk
The District Clerk is the Clerk to the 220th Judicial District Court. This District Court hears Civil (over $5000), felony criminal cases, and domestic relation matters which include divorces, annulments, adoptions, receiving and distributing child support payments and maintaining a record of child support payments.
The District Clerk also participates in selecting names from the jury wheel, reconstitution jury wheels, certifying jury lists, and arranging for juries.
Duties and Responsibilities of the County Clerk
The County Clerk is the Clerk for the County Courts, including Probate Court and the Commissioners Court. The County Clerk files, indexes and records all legal documents filed for record. The County Clerk carries out elections and has an office for early voting during the voting process.

The Tax Assessor/Collector assesses and collects taxes on property in and for the County, and under certain conditions, for other taxing units.
Other responsibilities include vehicle registration, voter registration, calculation of taxes, tax delinquency, and temporary alcoholic beverage license.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Sheriff
The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of the county and is responsible for operating the county jail, investigating crimes, making judgments, and maintaining communications with other law enforcement organizations. The Sheriff has countywide jurisdiction, but in practice, concentrates on activities outside city limits where municipal officers cannot operate.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Constable
The Constable is an authorized peace officer and is the chief process server of the Justice Court. The Constable has state-wide jurisdiction to execute any criminal process, and county-wide to execute any civil process.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Justices of the Peace
Justices of the Peace, also known as JP's, are the presiding officers of the justice court and the small claims court. The JP's have jurisdiction over class C misdemeanors, issues arrest and search warrants and magistrates adult and juvenile offenders.
The JP's also perform marriages and hold inquests.
